Amanda Blevins | Director of Bands

Amanda G. Blevins, in her twelveth year of teaching, began her career at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio.  Under her direction at Tri-Valley, the Marching Scotties, Symphonic, and Junior High Bands have obtained Superior Ratings at OMEA District and State Marching Competitions and OMEA District Concert Band Contest.  The Marching Scotties have competed nationally in the Bands of American competition, at Disney World in Florida, as well as performing for several Longaberger and Community events.  The Tri-Valley Bands have hosted the German Big Band from Rhine, Germany three times.

Ms. Blevins continues to be instrumental in the expansion of the Tri-Valley Junior High Band Program. 
Ms. Blevins is in her thirteenth year as a performing member of the Heisey Wind Ensemble at Denison University.  This group performs six concerts a year and has been selected twice to perform at the OMEA State Convention.  Ms. Blevins is a Praxis III Assessor for entry year teachers through the Ohio Department of Education.  She has served as a writer for the Ohio Fine Arts Curriculum Model Team.  In the past she has worked with other music and arts teachers to develop the Muskingum County Fine Arts Course of Study.  Ms. Blevins is currently a National Board Certified Teacher for music education and the 2007 Daybreak Rotary Teacher of Excellence recipient.

In addition to providing instruction in music, Ms. Blevins incorporates multicultural, integrated arts into the curriculum. 

The 2009 "A Night at the Library " program showcased music, literature, art, science and historical projects based on different works of literature.
